FAQ – Your first time participating in the Junior Golf Tour

1. Getting Started

What is the Junior Golf Tour?
A tournament series for children and juniors in Germany and abroad. You play multi-day tournaments (3 × 18 holes or 3 × 9 holes), gain tournament experience, and meet other young golfers.

What age group is the tour for?
Generally around ages 9–23. The exact age categories are listed in the respective tournament announcement.

 

2. Eligibility Requirements

What do I need in order to play?
A valid club membership, an official handicap, and you must fit the tournament’s age category.

Can international players take part?
Yes, if they are members of a recognized golf association/federation and have an official handicap.

 

3. Registration

How do I enter?
Via the tournament calendar on our website or click here: select a tournament, open “Information & Registration,” choose the tournament format, then follow the instructions.

Until when can I enter?
Until the stated closing date for entries. This is shown on the tournament page.

 

4. Fees & What’s Included

How much does it cost to take part?
The entry fee varies by tournament. The amount is shown during registration and/or in the tournament announcement. (18-hole stroke play and Stableford usually €205.00, 9-hole €125.00)

What is included in the entry fee?
The entry fee usually includes, for example:

  • Eligibility to start (1 practice round and 3 tournament days) + a starter gift
  • Scoring and prizes
  • On-course catering on the tournament day (fruit, water, and after the round free popcorn and slush ice)

What additional costs may arise?
Additional costs may include:

  • Travel
  • Accommodation / hotel
  • Additional practice rounds
  • Food and drinks

 

5. Travel, Hotel & Support

Do I have to book travel and hotel myself?
Yes, players and parents organize this themselves. In some cases, hotel recommendations are included in the tournament information.

Who is the contact person on site?
Tournament Director – contact details are listed in the tournament information. The JGT team will be available throughout the event for any questions.

 

6. Tournament Format & Schedule

What does a tournament day look like?
Arrive, warm up, start at the stated tee time, then return your score. Starting times and groups are published online in good time. You will also receive an email the day before, around 5:00 pm, with the tee times.

What format is played?
Depending on the tournament: stroke play or Stableford, over 9 or 18 holes and/or multiple rounds. Details are in the tournament announcement.

Is there a practice round?
Yes, but it must be booked directly with the golf club. (The cost of the practice round is included in the price.)

 

7. Parents, Caddies & Conduct

Are caddies allowed?
Parents, trainers, and coaches may act as a caddie during the tournament if they are registered.
Caddies must follow the code of conduct.

Are spectators allowed?
Yes, but without interfering with play. They must keep a distance of 50 m and follow the Tournament directors instructions.

 

8. Safety & Health

How is safety ensured?
There is a responsible Tournament director and trained staff on site. Emergency contacts and procedures are arranged with the club.

Which insurance is recommended?
Public liability insurance (including golf). For trips abroad, travel health insurance. Please check this yourself.

 

9. Results & Rankings

Where can I find the results?
On the website under “Results” and/or in the tournament’s live scoring.

What is the Order of Merit?
Our season-long ranking list where you collect points based on your finishes.

Do the tournaments count for rankings (e.g. WAGR/EGR)?
Many tournaments are counted for national and international rankings.

 

10. Withdrawal & Cancellation

Can I withdraw/cancel my entry?
Yes, but according to the deadlines and conditions stated in the tournament announcement. Please check these before registration.

What happens in case of illness or no-show?
Please inform us immediately. Whether a refund is possible depends on the tournament’s cancellation policy.

What happens in bad weather?
The Tournament directors decide on suspension or abandonment of play. Results are determined in accordance with the official Rules of Golf.

 

11. Info & Contact

How do I stay up to date?
Via the tournament page, start lists, live scoring, and our channels (website / social media). Please check everything again shortly before the tournament.

Who can I contact if I have questions?
Via the “Contact” menu item you can reach us by form or email/phone, or send us a message on Instagram.

 

12. Photos, Media & Data Protection

Will photos and videos be taken?
Yes, at many tournaments. They may appear on the website and social media.

Can I object to publication?
Yes. Please inform us in writing as early as possible (ideally when entering).

Where can I find information on data protection?
In the privacy policy on our website.

 

This is how your first JGT tournament works

After your online entry:

Practice rounds must be organized independently. 1 practice round is included in the price.

Day 1 – Registration

  • By 4:00 pm, check in in person at the club / with the Tournament directors, verify your handicap, and take a photo for live scoring.
    • If you cannot make it in time, you must inform us by email or phone.
    • If you do not register, you will be disqualified.
  • Afterwards: practice round (tee times as per tournament information).

Days 2–4 – Tournament rounds

  • Starts usually from around 8:00 am.
  • You will also receive a code for live scoring at the start.
  • Tee times and groups are sent by email the day before, around 5:00 pm.
  • After each round: return your score.

Day 4 – Prize-giving
After the final round, the prize ceremony takes place – it is part of the event.
